Causes of Back Pain

  • Postural Stress is caused when poor posture puts strain on joints, nerves and where ligaments are over stretched and muscles tire and weaken.
  • Minor Muscle Strains may settle by themselves but more severe strains will need physiotherapy to settle and manage the stiffness and weakness often associated with healing.
  • Common causes of Ligament Injuries include motor vehicle and sporting injuries. These may require physiotherapy to fully recover pain free fitness.
  • Disc Injuries can range from age related changes through to prolapses, herniation or even rupture. The disc is unable to "slip" out of place but careful management of many disc injuries can speed the healing process.
  • Arthritis can cause stiffness and weakness throughout the spinal joints. This can be managed well with the correct advice, treatment and exercises to have you moving well again.
